Giving young people the confidence to choose their own path

For 125 years, JLGB have been supporting, mentoring and inspiring young Jewish people across the UK, offering a range of programmes from weekly groups to youth camps and volunteering awards. Whilst their heritage meant they were well known, their visual brand no longer reflected their mission and values meaning there was often a misunderstanding amongst their audience about what their organisation did.

JLGB needed a visual brand that communicated the full breadth of their offering. However, as part of this they also wanted to transform into a digital first brand. This meant creating a digital platform that would allow youth leaders across the country to collaborate on activities and events. Creative Interpartners partnered with us for this project where we were responsible for leading the project and working with their team to create the brand and digital platform from strategy led concepts through to final implementation.

Identities forged through experiences

Our strategy for the visual brand, was to focus on people rather than products, allowing the individuals at JLGB to tell the brand story and showcase the organisations' full range of activities. From this we built our concept which centred around identity, starting with the visual of a fingerprint made up of brightly coloured lines, depicting the way the experiences you have are what make you unique. Together each line of experience flows and builds as you continue on your journey. The line device is central to the visual language, working in a multitude of ways and at different scales to depict the experiences of these young people at JLGB.

A new digital presence

Transforming JLGB into a digital first brand was a big technical undertaking as we sought to completely rethink the way their audience interacted with the organisation digitally. Working closely with the developers at Beachshore, we were able to create a flexible platform that was not only much clearer and visually engaging but also allowed tailored user journeys for each of the target audiences.

FUEL the leaders of tomorrow

As part of the digital first strategy, we designed and built FUEL, a bespoke platform for JLGB's staff and volunteers. The aim of this platform was to give their youth leaders a space to organise whilst fostering collaboration between the different JLGB groups across the country. We knew that there would be many staff and volunteers of all ages using this platform so it was essential to keep the design as simple and intuitive as possible whilst accommodating a large amount of functionality.

Our solution was to have four key pages to FUEL: 'dashboard' where leaders manage their own team and activities, 'programmes' where activities could be designed and shared between youth leaders , 'training' offering training and support for staff and 'news' where key information and updates could be shared between the different arms of the organisation.
